Silver has taken over, and an urgent appetite for these metals sees jewellery designers defining new forms.
Metals are moulded, sculpted, casted, crafted, suddenly alive.
Metals aren’t playing the supporting roles to gemstone stars anymore - whether they’re precious or not.
Some are playful, some are angry, some defy categorization.
These are the microtrends being created by the latest class of jewellers:
(For serious metal fans only.)
1. Molten melting // Amorphous, biomorphic, organic shapes that challenge the rigid dimensions of traditional jewellery.
Danielle Karlikoff, Joanne Burke, Colombe D’Humieres & Melted Potato

2. Pierced // A punk sensibility with an ironic twist: piercing gems, pearls and metals with themselves.
Hannah Martin, Georgina Treviño, Corrina Goutos, Rainbow K & Justine Clenquet

3. Unhinged upcycling // These eco-friendly novelties reflect the DIY spirit of GEN Z, while answering the question: can anything be jewellery? Even DVDs, keychains, and children’s toys? It’s all about context & curation.
D’Heygere,Joshua Myszczynski, Quality Zeeman, BB Smith & Echo Shawna

(Note: both Georgina Treviño and Corrina Goutous are also Unhinged upcycling vanguards too ⛓️)
4. Spiked // The very real moods of aggression, fear and violence are transmuted into jewellery and accessories. There’s more punk lineage here, but this evolution demonstrates new interpretations of this shape.
Chris Habana, Asterisk, Stettin, Rohan Mirza & My Dearest World

5. Industrial // Hard-edged, armour-like giant proportions - these designs are for a moment where the lines between human and machine are becoming increasingly blurred.
Archived Prototypes, Ninna York, Angostura, Rick Owens & Maison Margiela
